A man who died after being found lying in the middle of a street could have been the victim of a hit-and-run, police say.
Police were called to reports of a man collapsed in Shepherds Way, South Croydon, yesterday at 6.35am. The man, in his 50s, had serious head and chest injuries and was taken to hospital but died later in the morning.
Officers are investigating the possibility that he may have been hit by a car which then drove off although they say it is not yet clear how the man got his injuries.
Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Shepherds Way area can call the road death investigation unit based at the Catford Traffic Garage on 020 8285 1574.
