A Paralympic superstar has struck up a sponsorship deal with a business from his hometown.

Roundshaw wheelchair racer David Weir, who won four gold medals at the Paralympics last year, has signed a two-year deal with Wallington company Penta Consulting.

Weir, who won his sixth London Marathon last year, said: "I am very happy to be associated with such a successful global company and I like the fact that Penta is based in Wallington where I come from.

"I’m looking forward to being involved with them over the next two years."

Penta, based in Stafford Road, provides IT and telecommunications staff for businesses around the world and has been recognised for its charitable project Penta in the Community.

Paul Clark, Penta's chief executive and founder, said: "We will be supporting David over the next two years in the build up to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 as he competes all around the world.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be championing David as there is such a natural fit between him and our company, both locally and internationally. Penta and David are both top Wallington brands that compete on the international stage and both are wholly committed to supporting local charities and not for profit organisations in the local community."
