Sutton man Tony Smith made CBE for Olympic contribution
A father-of-two who was responsible for a mammoth security programme during the Olympics says being made a CBE is an honour and a privilege.
Tony Smith, 59, has worked for the Home Office for 40 years and is the head of the UK Border Force.
He was in charge of the agency's security programme during the Olympics and was made a CBE for his services to the games.
He said: "It is both a privilege and an honour to receive this award. In particular I would like to thank all our officers who worked tirelessly round the clock both at the border and behind the scenes to ensure we had a safe, secure and inspirational Olympics last Summer."
Mr Smith and his wife Jill have lived in the borough for 14 years and have two sons.
