A Cheam woman has swapped working as a sales director for taking a chance on a project she thinks could change the way people sell their homes.
Jayne Elleson, 46, used to be a sales director for a car dealer but, after 17 years doing a job she did not like, she has taken a plunge into the unknown by setting up her own home staging business - Home Design and Interiors.
Home staging is where someone helps people sell their houses by making changes to the interiors of people's homes which will make them more desirable and could even add value.
Ms Elleson says it is a common thing to do in the USA and Canada and thinks it will become the norm in this country too.
She said: "I didn't enjoy my job. The pressure of the industry in this climate was horrible and I wanted to go and find something totally different for myself.
"Home staging in this country isn't popular but in other countries people wouldn't put their houses on the market without it. It's a proven fact that home staging makes your house more desirable to a broader audience and can lead to a quicker sale."
Ms Elleson was trained in home staging by TV's Ann Maurice who has a show on Channel 5 called House Doctor.
