Plans are being considered to create a children's playground next to Brighton Road car park.
Sutton South Area Committee last month voted in favour of allocating funds to put one of the wards' green spaces to good use.
Ward councillor Tony Shields said: "I will be the first to say that the small area outside the multi-storey car park on Brighton Road is not in any way a favourable spot for a child's play area but frankly it is the only piece of land in the ward that will lend itself.
The ward has seen a marked increase in children living in flats with no outside play area. The police raise no issues and the car park has the benefit of the only public loo left in Sutton, a welcome benefit for mums and dads alike."
