The six wives of Henry VIII will be the subject of an illustrated talk by a well known author this month.

Back by popular demand, Alison Weir's The Images of Tudor Queens: Portraits of the Six Wives of Henry VIII will illuminate the world of the Tudor king's spouses by looking at iconic portraits from a wide range of collections at Sutton Library.

The talk has been organised by the Friends of Sutton Library.

Many of the portraits of the Tudor queens have been the subject of heated discussion among historians and art experts.

Councillor Jill Whitehead, chairwoman of the environment and neighbourhood committee said: "This period of history has sparked the imaginations of so many people throughout the years.

"I personally love Alison Weir's talks; and I’m sure anyone who gets a ticket for this discussion will enjoy her enthusiasm for the subject matter and come away with a stronger understanding of Tudor history."

The talk will be held at Sutton Library on Thursday 31 January 2013 at 7pm.

Tickets are available from Sutton Library costing £3.50 each or £2.50 for Friends of Sutton Library.
