A young dog was left homeless over Christmas after his owners tied him up and left him outside a pub.

Donny, thought to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossed with a Jack Russell, was left outside The Plough pub in Sutton Common Road on December 23.

The Riverside Animal Centre in Beddington took him in for a few days and it soon became clear that Donny had been dumped outside the pub on purpose.

Heidi Day, pet unit manager at the Riverside centre, said: "He’s a funny little dog really.

"He is house trained. He’s friendly and you can get him to sit down. He’s a very lovable little chap.

"He has a lot going for him - it’s just a shame someone did to him what they did.

"He does a little dance with his front feet which is sweet. He gets all excited and his feet can’t stand still.

"I think someone will instantly like him."

Donny still needs a lot of training but he is friendly, suitable for a family with older children and likes other dogs.
