The family of Janelle Duncan-Bailey have led tributes to the popular 25-year-old.

The mum-of-two's cousin, Pat West-Allwood said the family were devastated by her death.

He said: "We are devastated by the loss of our beautiful Janelle. The family is treating each day as it comes at this very testing and trying time."

Friends and family have expressed their shock at her death on social networks.

Janelle's sister tweeted: "The fact my father has to bury his first born daughter and my nephews have no mother tears me apart.

"I never thought I would have to say bye so soon. RIP Sis," and her cousin added: "RIP to my cousin Janelle. She is going to be truly missed. Loved that girl too much and I'm hurting so much."

Another user tweeted: "I don't get why bad things happen to good people, RIP Janelle."

A friend who did not want to be named said: "It doesn't feel real. I expect to wake up and for this to be a dream.

"Janelle was a great mum, and for her to be taken away from her children in such tragic circumstances is horrific. Nobody deserves this.”

Miss Duncan-Bailey had worked as a home visit nurse for Bupa for more than two years.

Steve Flanagan, managing director of Bupa Home Healthcare said: "Janelle was a popular and highly-respected member of our home nursing team.

"We are all shocked by this tragedy and our thoughts are with Janelle’s family over this difficult time."

Miss Duncan-Bailey's ex-boyfriend Jerome McDonald appeared at the Old Bailey today charged with her murder.

The 30-year-old DJ of Fairlands Avenue, Thornton Heath did not make a bail application and was remanded in custody to appear at a plea and case management hearing on April 5.
