A man was stabbed after four men stormed into his Hersham home and stole an expensive car.

Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary that took place in Molesey Road, Hersham, at about 11pm on Monday, January 7.

The four robbers forced entry into the property and encountered a brief struggle with the occupant, a man in his 40s.

The victim sustained minor back injuries, believed to be a stab wound, during the incident but did not require hospital treatment.

The robbers then stole the victim’s wallet and keys to a black Range Rover which was parked outside, before making off in the victim’s car.

The vehicle has not yet been found, despite an extensive search of the surrounding area.

The offenders were men in their 20s or 30s, three of whom were wearing black with the forth wearing grey.

The men were all wearing gloves, hooded tops with the hoods pulled up and scarves covering their faces.

At least two were carrying implements believed to be knives.

Officers from Surrey Police have carried out extensive house to house enquiries in the area and are reviewing CCTV footage.

Scene of crime officers have also carried out a forensic examination of the property.

Detective Constable Anne Simpson, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a very concerning incident where a group of offenders have carried out a planned attack at the victim’s home.

“Fortunately the victim only sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack but he has understandably been left very shocked and upset by what must have been a terrifying experience.

“The burglars made off in the victim’s car and I am urgently appealing for anyone who saw the stolen black Range Rover and may be able to provide details about where the vehicle went after the incident.

“The offenders would have made a lot of noise while getting into the address so I would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything out of the ordinary in Molesey Road on Monday evening.

“Offences of this nature are unusual in Hersham but I can assure Elmbridge residents that we are doing everything possible to track down those responsible.”

Anyone who witnessed the aggravated burglary or with any information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference EL/13/174, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
