One of the borough's three police stations could be shut to the public in plans revealed this week.
The front counter at Wallington Police Station in Crosspoints House, Stafford Road, is earmarked to be shut down at part of the Mayors Office for Police and Crime (MOPAC)/Metropolitan Police Service Estates Plan published today.
A Sutton police spokesman said: "That front counter is poorly used and in times of cutbacks it's right that the Met looks at services which aren't being used properly and looks at the services the public wants to use to talk to officers."
The spokesman said the service would be replaced by police holding regular appointments in public places like cafes and supermarkets.
