A cyclist was hurt and had to be taken to hospital after a collision with a car this morning.

The crash happened in Langley Park Road at the junction of Morland Road near Sutton town centre at 8.11am. Police closed Langley Park Road between the junctions of Cedar Road and Carshalton Road but reopened it shortly before 9am.

London Ambulance Service treated the cyclist, thought to be in his early 20s, on the scene and took him to St Helier Hospital with non-life-changing injuries.

Good job our St. Helier District General Hospital A&E Department was there to spare this injured cyclist the further trauma of transport to Tooting for treatment. Also released the ambulance crew sooner to be available for the next patient desperate for their help. Bonkers scheme to shut St. Helier A&E and double bonkers for BSBV to consider shutting Epsom A&E as well. I wonder do they have it in mind to create a desolate area to provide a pathway for the pravateers to gobble up our NHS money?

Langley Park Road is a nightmare, especially during peak-times. It is an impossible road to cross as a pedestrian and the traffic does not adhere to the speed-limits. It is used as a 'rat-run' every day morning and evening. It is a brave person to cycle along Langley Park Road....let alone cross it.
