Three men arrested on suspicion of trying to steal fuel from a lorry have been released from custody as enquiries continue.
The arrests came after two officers on patrol spotted a van in ‘suspicious circumstances’ near the lorry in Banstead at 11.45pm on Tuesday.
The lorry had pulled up in a lay-by off Croydon Lane and soon after police stopped the van on the road itself.
Three men in their early 20s were arrested.
