An inquest has opened into the death of mum-of-two Janelle Duncan-Bailey.
The 25-year-old's body was found dumped in the boot of a car in Mayfield Crescent, Thornton Heath, on Saturday.
The home care nurse had been reporting missing after failing to pick up her two sons aged two and seven, from a friends house.
Croydon Coroners Court heard an autopsy gave the cause of death as asphyxia due to compression of the neck.
Jerome McDonald of Fairlands Avenue has been charged with murder.
The 30-year-old will appear at the Old Bailey on April 5, for a plea and case management hearing.
Coroner Dr Roy Palmer adjourned the inquest until the after the outcome of criminal proceedings.
