A well known playgroup owner and brownie leader has passed away.

Dorothy Rumsey, known as Dot, died on Thursday (January 10) aged 84.

As the Brown Owl for numerous Rainbows and Brownie packs, Mrs Rumsey "helped many generations of young children grow up over the years", according to her son Ian.

In tribute, a spokesman for the family said: "Rest in peace my darling, you were the best wife, mum and nan anyone could wish for and a great friend and source of strength to so many people in your life."

The family has invited those who knew Dot for all the wonderful work she did in the community to the funeral to be held at North East Surrey Crematorium, on Tuesday January 22 at 10:40am.
