Time is running out to put forward your hero for this year's Community Leadership Awards.

Sutton Council is looking for nominations for the awards but they must be in by January 28.

People who are nominated should fall into one of five categories - Making a difference to their neighbourhood, Building prosperity, Improving people’s lives, Keeping Sutton safe, or Making Sutton greener.

Every winning hero will be given £100 in vouchers as a little reward for all their hard work.

Councillor Ruth Dombey, leader of Sutton Council, said: "You know who these everyday heroes are.

Tell us their names so we can give them a little of the recognition they deserve."

Last year Les Wileman deservedly won the Improving People's Lives award for tirelessly visiting residential and nursing homes and befriending people who don't get many visitors.

Melanie Chiwera also won for her work with the Benhill Estate Residents' Association, particularly in helping set up vegetable patches, and Martin Furtauer-Hayes, Sutton’s Town Centre Manager, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to serving the borough's residents.
