A businessman has been hit with a £1,000 fine and ordered to pay £340 costs after his company dumped rubbish.

Ladislav Lukac, 42, of RCH Properties on Glastonbury Road, dumped 25 black bags of rubbish the company had cleared from a property in Kensington.

The original offence was committed on 19 January 2010 and an arrest warrant was issued on 30 March 2011 after Lukac failed to attend court.

He was arrested and taken to Tower Bridge Magistrates Court on 11 January to answer charges of failing to control rubbish and also failing to answer a notice requiring information.

Councillor Jill Whitehead, chairwoman of council's environment and neighbourhoods committee, said: "Illegal rubbish dumps are an eyesore that affect the quality of life for our residents and give a poor impression to visitors.

"We are proud of our reputation as a cleaner, greener borough and our enforcement officers work hard to ensure that every case is investigated and perpetrators are prosecuted."
