A flood at the Life Centre meant a meeting had to be moved to a pub.

Twenty of the Four Square Residents Panel had to trundle over the road to the Harvester pub on Sutton Common Road after being informed 20 minutes before the meeting the centre was flooded.

According to Simon Densley, chairman of the group, the group had considered holding the meeting in the car park, but decided the pub would be warmer.

He said: "The pub kindly cornered off an area for us where we could hold the meeting, but it wasn't ideal. The meeting was supposed to start at 7pm last Tuesday and I didn't find out about the flood until 6.40pm."

Councillor Jill Whitehead, chairwoman of the environment and neighbourhoods committee said: "A water pipe in the plant room at the Life Centre developed a leak which was discovered by staff on Tuesday, January 8.

"In order to repair the leak the mains water had to be switched off, meaning that services such as public toilets were out of action."
