The second person killed in this morning’s helicopter crash in Vauxhall is believed to be a man from Sutton.

Police have said they believe the man killed in the crash is Matthew Wood, 39, from Sutton.

Mr Wood is understood to have been on the ground walking to work when the helicopter hit a crane on St George Wharf Tower, in Vauxhall, amid heavy fog.

It cartwheeled out of the sky, smashed into two cars as it hit the ground and exploded into flames.

Helicopter pilot Peter Barnes also died in the crash.

Police said next of kin of both men had been informed and family liaison officers are with their families.

Two office buildings, five cars and two motorbikes were damaged in the crash shortly before 8am this morning.

Twelve people were injured. Five are in hospital, including one with a broken leg, and seven were treated at the scene.
