A police car smashed through a sign after it swerved to dodge a fox this morning.

The collision happened at the junction of Staplehurst Road and Banstead Road in Carshalton Beeches shortly before 6am.

The fox ran out into the road and the officer swerved to avoid it, crashing through a 'keep left' sign.

Neither the officer nor the fox were hurt.

I bet the sign and the police car were hurt though!

Slow day on the news desk for local news then?

I witnessed a police officer eating an apple while driving today - something that I also read a member of the public was prosecuted for a while back.

Not a very good example...........

Thanks for the picture of a fox and a police car in case we don't know what they look like.
