A Bollywood dancing schoolgirl has been shortlisted on the TV talent show Got to Dance.

Nicky Nayak, from Sutton, is set for stardom at just six years old. In her first audition for the Sky 1 show, broadcast on Sunday, January 20, she was awarded three gold stars by the judges.

The Avenue Primary school pupil amazed the judges with her self-choreographed routine to the Pussycat Dolls’ Jai-Ho.

New judge Aston Merrygold, who found fame with boyband JLS, said: "The music started and it was like - bang - stardom. I’m just happy that I got to watch that."

Braja Nayak, Nicky’s dad, said: "This is the best thing that has ever happened to Nicky, she’s always talked about being on television.

"This is such a big event for the entire family. We all sat together to watch her first appearance on television - it was so exciting."

"The whole process has just been so fun. The whole family are so proud of her and we can’t wait for the rest of the competition."

Talented Nicky has had no formal training, and instead watches music videos of her favourite artists to get ideas for her routines.

Mr Nayak, 41, who is the director of an IT company, said: "Nicky used to watch the Pussycat Dolls’ Jai-Ho video all the time, she was always dancing along and added a few moves of her own to make up her audition routine."

Nicky’s whole family are dancing fans, and while her mum helps her to create routines, her two year old brother is always trying to copy his big sister’s dance moves.

Confident Nicky came second place in Sutton’s Got Talent in 2010 and won Croydon’s Got Talent in 2012.

She has recently taken up local classes to learn classical Indian dance, and hopes to start learning Hip Hop and Freestyle in the near future.

Shortlisted contestants that have made the live finals will be announced on the February 3. Series 4 of Got to Dance airs on Sky 1 HD every Sunday at 6pm.
