Southern will be resuming its normal timetable tomorrow despite having a number of its trains damaged by snow and water.

The damage to its trains has led to the cancellation of a number of services in the Metro area tomorrow.

In addition, a limited number of services will have fewer carriages than normal.

A Southern spokesman explained that because it was powdery snow it had got blown up inside the motors where it melted and damaged the electrics.

He said the affected trains were now in depots where engineers were working on a system to proof them against further damage.

Cancellations in the Metro area:

• 09.36 Crystal Palace to London Bridge

• 17.05 London Bridge to West Croydon

• 17.42 West Croydon to London Bridge

• 18.06 London Bridge to West Croydon
