Two youths have been charged with attempting to mug a woman walking alone in Epsom at night.

The incident took place at 7.50pm on Sunday, January 13, when the 20-year-old woman was walking along Longmead Road.

On Saturday, January 19, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), working with Surrey Police, charged Diogo Barbosa, 20, of Mortimer Crescent, Worcester Park, and a 17-year-old boy, from the Wimbledon area, with attempted robbery.

They were also charged in connection with other offences which took place in the MPS area.

Barbosa has been remanded in custody and the 17-year-old boy has been released on conditional bail.

They will appear in court at a later date.
