A new children's centre has been praised by Ofsted.

Manor Park Children's Centre in Myrtle Road, has received a good rating in it's first Ofsted report. The report praised the four-year-old centre's baby massage classes and messy play lessons.

After opening in July 2008 it now provides services five days a week and alternate Saturdays to more than 800 registered children and their families for 51 weeks a year.

Daniel Ayeni, Centre Manager, said: "The report reflects the hard work put in by everyone. I am particularly pleased with the reference to 'excellent levels of care, guidance and support to all who need it, and especially those who are most vulnerable' because this results from our real focus on safeguarding in the centre’s work."

"We will continue to do our best to make a difference in the lives of children and families who use our service."

Ofsted's summary concluded: "Having already had a positive impact and improved the lives of many families, the centre is well placed to continue to improve."

Dave Callaghan, chairman of Sutton’s Children, Family and Education Committee, said: "This report is a richly-deserved tribute to the hard work of the Centre's staff, children and parents and governors
