Foresters Primary School headteacher Havard Spring serves lunch to well-mannered youngsters
A headteacher personally serves lunch to well-mannered students once a week.
Havard Spring, headteacher at Foresters Primary School in Wallington, serves lunch every Tuesday to youngsters who win a golden ticket for their good table manners.
He said: “The children really enjoy it and so do I. They are given a golden ticket on Friday and have lunch with me on Tuesday. It’s a nice chance to sit down and have a chat.”
Recent figures show that for the first time more than 6,000 lunches are served every day in 39 of Sutton’s primary and special schools.
Councillor Dave Callaghan, chair of Sutton Council’s children, family and education committee, said: “We are very proud of the schools in our borough and we believe that a good meal in the middle of the day helps children stay alert and learn all afternoon.
“We take great care to make sure the meals are nutritious and locally-sourced, but of course the most important thing is that they taste great and the fact that so many children are choosing to eat school meals proves that.”
