The MP for Carshalton and Wallington is holding a public meeting to discuss the future of St Helier Hospital.

The meeting will take place at 7pm on Thursday, February 21, at the Carshalton Boys Sports College, Winchcombe Road.

It will be an opportunity to challenge those behind the Better Services Better Value (BSBV) review who are proposing to close accident and emergency departments, maternity services and children’s wards at two hospitals in the region.

Mr Brake said: “The support for the campaign so far has been overwhelming. But we need to keep up the momentum as the fight for St Helier is far from over.

“The meeting is an opportunity for all the constituents to come and express their views, opinions and concerns about the future of St Helier.

“We encourage both those who are already engaged in the campaign, as well as those who would like to get involved, to drop in.”

Last year BSBV recommended that St Helier Hospital should lose its A&E and maternity departments.

A campaign to save these vital services has been fought ever since with thousands of local residents to voicing their opposition to the proposed closures.
