Driver and passengers flee after car flip
The police helicopter was involved in a search for four men after a car crashed and flipped on to its roof last night.
Police and firefighters were called to reports of a Ford Focus which had overturned in Woodmansterne Road, Carshalton, at 10.45pm.
The police helicopter joined the search after the four male occupants fled the scene. Two of the men identified themselves to officers near the scene, another was found lying in a ditch nearby and the final occupant of the car made his way to his girlfriend's house and was spoken to by officers over the phone.
Three of the occupants of the car, including the driver, were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries. The driver is being reported for motoring offences. Sutton Council workmen were called to remove a tree that was lying in the road.
