Sutton cyclist Frank Bazan to ride from Tooting to Tangiers
A cyclist is taking on an intercontinental challenge to raise money to bring clean water to poverty-stricken parts of the world.
Sutton man Frank Bazan, 36, is going to ride from Tooting to Tangier starting on Valentine's day.
Mr Bazan quit his job as an IT consultant to concentrate on training for the 1,600mile journey which will involve him cycling 30miles a day, six days a week.
He is taking on the gruelling challenge in the hope of raising £3,000 for the charity WaterAid.
Mr Bazan said: "I decided to take on this challenge for WaterAid because there are still over 750 million people in the world without access to clean water. Sanitation and hygiene are a basic necessity for health, education and work.
"It will be a tough challenge for me, a relatively novice cyclist, but it’s great to know that I will be raising funds to help support some of the poorest communities in the world to help themselves."
