Dogs were welcome at the opening of a new bank on the high street today.

Metro Bank, famed for it's animal friendly approach, opened its doors for the first time today. 

The £2m bank becomes the 16th branch after the company opened its first in Holborn in 2010.

Speaking a at the opening, Metro Bank chief executive officer, Craig Donaldson said: "We want to create a good atmosphere here, it's a really great space and we're here to help businesses and customers."

Dean Murphy, the banks local director, said: "We are very animal friendly. We want to show people we look after animals, so we can look after customers."

Metro Bank is Britain's first new High Street bank in over 100 years and is open 7 days a week.
