Sutton Council announces plans to freeze council tax for fourth year Sutton Council announces plans to freeze council tax for fourth year

Council Tax is to remain the same for the fourth year running. Sutton Council has announced it is to freeze the tax subject to approval by Full Council on 4 March.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Ruth Dombey, said: "We are very aware that prices are rising faster than incomes and residents are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.

"So we looked closely at how we can cut costs and work more efficiently and still provide the excellent services residents expect without raising Council Tax. And I’m pleased to say we have managed that for the fourth consecutive year."

The proposal to freeze Council tax will be discussed at the Strategy and Resources Committee meeting on Monday 11 February and a final decision will be reached at Full Council on 4 March.

Still leaves us with with one of the highest Council Taxes is London though.
We should receive a cut in the amount we pay to the London Mayor
The Olympics came in on budget we were told, so Boris will not need that extra we have been paying for the last few years

It's worse than than that, Income from hard earned and taxed savings is now negative, going backwards, due to government QE and inflation. Council tax should be cut rather than frozen.

Lets face it local authorities only know how to waste it, as we know only too well in Sutton
A cut would give them less to "play" with
