Having bumped my way once again down Nightingale Lane, I was outraged to read on your front page last week that the council has taken £25m in parking fees from motorists last year.

The potholes are what you would expect to see in some backwater track in Thailand or Kenya. But this is Wandsworth, which is making money hand over fist from motorists.

There is a whole string of really deep holes – some approaching a foot deep I would guess – that are impossible to negotiate your car around because of the narrowness of the road.  They have been there for weeks and there is no sign of anyone doing anything to address the hazard.

With thousands of cars using the road each day, I have no idea how many have been damaged by them, but it will be a substantial number.   Come on Wandsworth, pull your finger out.
