The council is on the hunt for a business development manager to boost Epsom’s flagging town centre.

In partnership with Bride Hall, the company which manages The Ashley Centre, Epsom Council is advertising for an "enthusiastic and self-motivated individual" to promote the area to new and existing businesses while making the most of its "considerable assets".

The role will include promoting the economic interests of the town centre and borough, supporting local businesses and encouraging inward investors, implementing initiatives linked to Epsom’s university town status and proximity to Epsom Downs Racecourse, working with partners, and supporting the work of the borough’s business partnership and forum.

The candidate must have a degree or equivalent, be a "self-starter able to work confidently and collaboratively with a range of individuals and organisations from the private, public and community sectors both locally and regionally", and have experience of successfully managing projects.

They will be experienced in town centre management, with a qualification in this being highly desirable.

The advertisement, published on February 7, states the role will have a salary of up to £43,306 and will be on a full-time, two-year, fixed-term contract.

For an informal discussion about the role call Frances Rutter, Epsom council’s chief executive, on 01372 732104.

The closing date is March 3.  Interviews will be held in week beginning March 11.
