Long summer days may seem a world away but Hampton Court Palace has ensured there is more than sunshine to look forward to, with the line-up for its music festival released, including Cliff Richard.

In past years top artists from the world of rock, pop, jazz and classical music have drawn crowds to picnic and enjoy performances in the grounds of Henry VIII’s red brick Tudor palace.

This year Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Russell Watson, Jools Holland, Imelda May and other stars will take the stage in the historic courtyard.

Winner of four Classical Brit awards, Watson will perform a range of his well-known songs with his orchestra and will feature special guests Amore, the stunning classical vocal quartet.

He said: “I’m delighted to be taking part in the Hampton Court Palace next summer. I’m thoroughly looking forward to performing alongside some truly great artists and musical talent.”

British icon Cliff Richard, is this year’s headline artist and will sing best loved classics and new songs for two nights on June 22 and 23.

Other performers will include Joe Bonamassa and Bjorn Again and multi Brit award winner Lisa Stansfield.

Stansfield has sold more than 20m records throughout her career and is best known for her smash hits All Around the World, So Natural and All Woman.

She said: “After having such a great time last year in the UK with my three sold out shows, I'm so excited to be touring once again and I cannot wait to perform at Hampton Court Palace this June.”

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will return to the festival for a classical evening that will finish with a fireworks display.
