A metal safe was thrown from a first floor bedroom window when police carrying out a drugs raid broke down the front door.

The incident happened on Friday, February 22, as officers raided a property in Tintern Road, Carshalton.

The safe, believed to be a shotgun ammunition box, smashed a patio paving slab as it crashed to the ground.

It was taken to Sutton Police station where it was opened and found to contain 120 ‘snap’ bags and six larger bags of suspected cannabis.

A search of the property found 15 snap bags of white powder- believed to be a Class A drug.

Two women aged 42 and 28 were arrested at the address for possession with intent to supply.

Two hours later officers raided a property in Linton Close, Mitcham, where officers found a further 30 snap bags of suspected cannabis.

Three larger bags of herbal cannabis and drugs paraphernalia were also found.

A 19-year-old inside the property was arrested possession with intent to supply.

The operation was led by Sgt Colin Buchan of Sutton North Safer Neighbourhoods Team and enquiries continue.
