DJ David Goodings raises money for Radio Marsden in an episode of Deal or No Deal

A 19-year-old DJ secured a £5,000 donation to help save a hospital radio station in a nail-biting episode of hit TV show Deal or No Deal.
David Goodings, from Surbiton, starred in an episode of the Channel 4 show on Friday, February 22, and made sure to raise publicity of a campaign to save the radio station of the Royal Marsden cancer hospital.
The mobile DJ and volunteer for Radio Marsden told host Noel Edmonds: "I love doing the radio show and I think I got into it because I wanted to do radio but when you meet the patients there they mean so much to you and I go round the kids ward and you have a game of pool with them - they usually beat me - and I’m trying my best.
"I have a great laugh with them and a great laugh on the show - it means a lot."
He told Noel Edmonds all about Radio Marsden which faces closure if it does not raise £50,000 to replace ageing equipment.
After a bad start Mr Goodings’ game went from strength to strength until he was left with three blue boxes and five red boxes - including £100,000.
The banker offered Mr Goodings £10,000 for himself and a £3,500 donation for Radio Marsden.
However, just as the audience fell silent and Noel Edmonds went to ask him the big question - the banker rang again and increased the hospital donation to £5,000.
Mr Edmonds joked: "Your facial contortion at that moment will live with me for a long time - it was incredible how you just went from thinking ‘tell you what - I’m going to go for it’ to realising that’s an opportunity too good to miss."
Speaking after the show Mr Goodings said: "Going on the show was an experience I'll never forget.
"Hopefully, by highlighting the station's plight to a wider audience, we will raise our profile and heighten people's awareness of what we do and why we do it. Who knows - a generous viewer might even help us reach our target."
