A man who was reunited with his lost wallet after a speedy police investigation was so impressed he decided to volunteer himself.

Worcester Park man Jake Brammer, 20, lost his wallet in near his home last week. The wallet was found and handed in to volunteers at the Worcester Park police office on February 19.

Volunteer officer Graham Newman took down the relevant details and prepared a police report. He asked officers to examine the wallet and/ PC Richard Haining used police data to check the names and details on the items in the wallet but failed to trace Mr Brammer - he did, however, trace Mr Brammer's dad.

PC Haining called Mr Brammer's dad's number only for his son to answer the phone. Mr Brammer was reunited with his wallet 20 minutes later. He was so impressed with the work of Mr Newman and PC Haining  he decided to become a police volunteer.

He said: "When the police station called me up I couldn’t quite believe they had recovered it. I felt so happy and lucky to say the least. I was extremely grateful.

"This incident was definitely the main thing that made me want to volunteer for the police. My girlfriend is currently training in Hendon to become a Special Constable and it all sounds so interesting. I’ve always been interested in the Met police."
