A teenager fought off armed men who held a gun to his friend's mums head at the door of her home.

Widow Faiza White described the terrifying moment three men tried to break into her home in Whitby Road on the St Helier Estate at about 7.30pm last night, and her son's friend fought off the attackers.

She said she was sitting at home watching Eastenders when she heard loud banging at the door.

Mrs White, a mum-of-three who is recovering from breast cancer, said: "I opened the door a little bit and I was going to say ‘Who is that breaking my door?’

"But there were three men pushing the door and one pushing a gun against my head.

"I cried for help. My son and his friend came downstairs and they tried to push the door so they couldn’t open it.

"There was a man with a gun who was wearing white and the other two were behind.

"They were telling him to ‘Shoot the b*stards, shoot the b*stards’.

"They broke the door down and came in. My son's friend had metal in his hand and hit one of the people. We started screaming and they ran.

"My neighbour opened their door and saw them running. I think they were robbers.

"We were very scared. I have never had anything like this happen before."

Mrs White is still shaken up after the incident and said something similar had happened to one of her neighbours last year.

The men, who Mrs White described as white and in their late twenties or early thirties, made a hole in her front door.

Sutton detectives are investigating the incident.
