Police investigate five daylight burglaries abround Overton Road
Police are investigating a spate of linked burglaries in Overton Road in broad daylight last Friday (March 1).
Three happened at about midday in Overton Road, and two further break ins in neighbouring Mulgrave Road and Hillside Road took place between 8am and 4pm.
In Overton Road, a female resident inside her property saw a male intruder on her stairs after he had forced entry through the rear patio door and made off with £95.
Items taken during the burglaries include jewellery, camera, ipod and Sterling and Euro currency. All the properties were entered from the rear either with glass being smashed or windows and doors forced.
The suspect seen on the stairs at the Overton Road property is described as a white man, aged 22-28, 5ft-10in - 6ft tall, and of slim build.
He was wearing a bomber jacket, jeans and trainers. He was also wearing a dark ribbed woolly hat with the ends turned up.
If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at these times, contact Sutton's Burglary and Robbery Investigation Team on 020 8649 0777. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Sutton Crime Prevention Officer PC Duncan Harris said: "Call police immediately on 999 if you see anyone you don't recognise acting suspiciously near your own or your neighbours' properties or if you hear any unexpected bangs or smashing glass from next door when you know the owners are at work or away.
"You won't be wasting our time. We would much rather you call so we arrive to find that everything is OK, than for us to find a resident distressed and upset because they have become a victim of a burglary."
