Residents are being encouraged to waste less food by cooking.

A new national campaign is being backed by Sutton Council which will see a series of event take place around the borough in the coming weeks.

The first of three Love Food Hate Waste Cookery Demonstrations will be at the North Cheam Centre, on London Road, between 12:45pm snd 2:45pm on Monday March, 18.

On the following Thursday (March 21) the same demo will be hosted at the Wandle Valley School in Carshalton between 6:30pm and 8:30pm, and finally on the Monday, March 25, at BedZED Pavilion, in Sandmartin Way between 10:30am until 12:30pm.

Councillor Colin Hall, deputy leader of Sutton Council, said: "In these tough economic times we are always looking for ways to make what we have go that little bit further.

"These workshops are a great way to learn about what can be done with those leftover vegetables or small cuts of meat."

Don't forget you local friendly fox waste food collection and disposal service operates every night. Just leave edible food waste in your garden which will also support your local animal community and they won't come in the house and eat your children despite what people tell the papers.
