High winds bring down trees in Cheam Park High winds bring down trees in Cheam Park

Two Ornamental Cherry trees in Cheam Park fell in last night’s high winds.

The trees were spotted by Cheam councillor, Mary Burstow, who said: "The trees were originally planted in the park by children from St Dunstan’s School in 1973.

“This year children from the school helped plant trees in Cheam Recreation Ground.  History has turned full circle."

Yesterday, in Wimbledon, a 50ft tree came crashing down on to a house.

And today, in Wandsworth, a 27-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was hit by a falling telegraph pole.
