SUTT: Woman injured after being hit by a scooter
A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a scooter this morning.
After trying to cross Brighton Road near to Sutton Train station, the woman was struck by the scooter at about 8.50am.
Police are still on the scene redirecting traffic and taking statements from witnesses.
A witness, Barbara Childs, who was on her way to work at nearby Quadrant House, said it looked like an accident.
She said: "I was right behind her at the crossing.
"She was looking for a gap in the cars to cross the road and I just don't think she saw the scooter.
"The man on the scooter was mortified, he was going very slowly.
"It looked like she walked into the side of the scooter and she fell to the floor.
"She was complaining of a sore hip but I think she will be okay.
"I nearly put my arm out to grab her but I didn't think she would cross."
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic accident involving a motorcylist and a pedestrian.
We are treating a woman in her 60s at the scene."
