A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering wealthy American socialite Robert Troyan.

The 36-year-old was arrested at an address in Sutton yesterday (March 18) and remains in custody.

Mr Troyan, 63, who died from head injuries, was found at his £20m Mayfair home by his cleaner on March 8.

He lived alone at his £800-per-week one-bedroom flat in Mount Street following the death of his partner, the interior designer and socialite Anthony Feldman, whose clients included Princess Michael of Kent.

Mr Troyan and Mr Feldman were well-known for their "Mayfair dinners" and champagne lifestyle, but Mr Troyan moved out of the home they shared shortly after Mr Feldman's death in 2005.

Detective Inspector David Reid said: "I am appealing for anyone who knew Robert to come forward.

"He was a very well-known character in Mayfair, whom friends describe as kind and extremely generous.

"We are confident that his murder took place on Friday 8 March sometime before 16.00hrs, and urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in and around Mount Street to come forward.

Anyone who can assist should call the incident room on 020 8721 4054; if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
