An Olympic heroine has unveiled a plaque immortalising her achievements last summer.
Cyclist Joanna Rowsell yesterday unveiled a plaque detailing her gold medal performance at last summer's Olympic Games on the post box painted gold in her honour in Ewell Road, Cheam.
The post boxes, painted gold to celebrate athletes' achievements in the London 2012 Games, were only supposed to wear their shiny paint jobs temporarily.
But they proved so popular Royal Mail decided to make them permanent and inscribe each with a plaque explaining why it is gold.
Miss Rowsell's post box is just outside Nonsuch High School for Girls where she went to school.
