Students from the GBMAA Predatorz martial arts club returned from the Kwon Grand Slam competition last week with a fine haul of medals.

Leading the way, from the Epsom & Leatherhead branch, in Birmingam was Ellen Michael, 14, who won double gold in the forms weapons category and the -58kg advanced category.

Cerize Power, 11, won gold in the -44kg advanced points and silver in the -44kg intermediate points.

Katie Harrison, 14, impressed the judges with her martial gymnastics forms to win silver, while Ellen Michael, also 14, won gold in the forms weapons category and gold in the -58kg advanced category.

Danielle Chouls, 13, fought her way to gold in the -44kg novice points section.

Poppy Giles, nine, won silver in the -30kg girls’ novice points, with eight-year-old Jessica Murdoch claiming bronze in the same category.

Samuel Govinden, seven, battled his way through in the U8s +20kg to win silver, and Victoria Mitchell, 13, claimed silver in the girls’ novice points -51kg.

From the Croydon branch, chief instructors Linvell Taylor and Brian Kum battled their way through the heats to meet each other in the final with Taylor claiming gold.

Silver medalist Kum also won another silver in the men’s veteran points.

Junior Croydon instructors Roxy Carbery won silver in the women’s light con section, with Sam Pierce winning gold in the mens +75kg points section.

GBMAA Cobham instructor Sophian Rebai, 18, smashed his way to gold in the -75kg mens points.

The GBMAA children also did well with Cobham’s Marcus Ashton, 12, fighting winning silver in the points -58kg, while sisters Issie (gold, bronze) and Maisie Carrol (silver) were also among the medals.
