Firefighters are tackling a fire at a Korean restaurant in Burlington Rd.
A witness said You Me Korean Restaurant, near the junction with George Road, was on fire.
London Fire Brigade tweeted: "Part of a restaurant on Burlington Rd in New Malden KT3 is alight. Four fire engines at the scene."
Burlington Road is closed both ways due to what Transport for London described as a serious fire.
Burlington Road resident Yasmean Elghaly said: “It is literally outside my house. The whole road is closed. I can see a paramedic’s car. There are five fire engines, police vans and some officers.
“They seem to be doing something on the roof of the Korean restaurant. I can’t see any damage.
"It might be in the back not the front. There is a strong smell of burning.”
An employee who did not want to be named, from Spicy Island Indian restaurant opposite You Me, said: “I don’t think anybody is hurt. There are no flames but there is smoke."
