A car was set alight next to the Roundshaw Estate last night.

The Fire Brigade were called at just after 11pm on Wednesday, April 3, to Roundshaw Park.

They were called to Vickers Close but had to approach the fire from Imperial Way due to difficulty in accessing the spot.

It is understood the car, thought to be a Vauxhall Corsa, had been stripped, dumped on the park and set on fire.

The car became so hot the badges and plates melted and its doors were welded shut.

The police were called and no-one was injured.
