Flower power has kept a pair of 90-year-olds in full bloom at they celebrated their milestone birthdays last week.
Born a week apart, on April 2 and 9, Esther Barley and Joan Whyte have been friends since they met at the Epsom Garden Flower Club (EGFC) more than 18 years ago and are keen flower-arrangers.
Julia Harvey, of EGFC, said: "Esther, a co-founder of the club which celebrates its 45th anniversary later this year, is always ready to pass on tips and advice to those wishing to learn.
"Her encyclopaedic knowledge of plants is frequently called upon to help identify beautiful flowers used by demonstrators.
"Joan is equally indefatigable and organises the highly popular raffles for members to win stunning floral arrangements to take home."
The club presented the pair with flowers to mark the occasion when they met at a flower club meeting last Thursday.
Based at Christ Church Hall, in Christchurch Road, Epsom, EGFC offers a variety of activities and social events throughout the year including informal workshops for those new to flower-arranging.
