Riders got on their bikes to kick off the start of a new season for a popular cycle club.

Deputy mayor of Sutton Councillor Joyce Mellican formally launched the Cyclists' Touring Club's summer season in the sunshine at Nonsuch Park on Saturday.

Almost 40 riders of all abilities saddled up to spend their days riding a variety of routes around the area.

Club spokeswoman Shirley Quemby said: "The shorter ride was led along quiet roads and tracks to the new cyclists' café in Ashtead and returned following easy tracks across Ashtead and Epsom Commons to the Hogsmill and Nonsuch Park.

"The longer ride went along a scenic route to Richmond Park for their tea stop.

"For their return ride, they used a pleasant route across Kingston Borough to Worcester Park and the Nonsuch Mansion."

Anyone who wants to join the rides can contact 020 8642 3720 or turn up outside the Mansion Café in Nonsuch Park, off Ewell Road, with a roadworthy bike on any Saturday just before 2pm.
