This is the moment brazen burglars used an angle grinder to cut through shutters of a motorcycle shop, exactly six months after an attempted armed robbery at its sister store.

The gang arrived at the Aprilia motorbike showroom in St James's Road, at 11.10pm on Sunday, March 3, using the angle grinder to access the store before attempting to steal motorbikes.

But the burglars escaped empty-handed when neighbours living above the showroom disturbed them, before chasing them off before police arrived.

The raid came six months after six armed thieves tried to seize two £25,000 bikes from Aprilia's sister store Ducati across the road.

Owner Roberta Dixon said: "Unfortunately there are no new leads and the because they were wearing helmets, the guys who were involved from upstairs wouldn't recognise those involved.

"We are increasing security at the shop all the time, but hope by releasing CCTV of the second incident people with information will come forward."
