The glitz and glamour of the celebrity world has gone up for auction as part of a bowel cancer survivor's bid to raise money for charity.

Dafydd Jones, aged 30, from Cystal Palace, has teamed up with generous stars in the hope of helping others beat the disease.

Designer handbags donated by US Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Jimmy Choo shoes belonging to BBC newsreader Emily Maitlis and a book signed by Pippa Middleton are all up for grabs on eBay.

Mr Jones, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, will donate all the proceeds to Beating Bowel Cancer.

It is the 19th fundraising auction he has run - and each has seen colourful items go under the virtual hammer.

He has raised £10,000 in the past by selling items including Graham Norton's suit, Come Dine With Me scorecards and a script from the film The Santa Clause signed by Tim Allen.

Mr Jones said: "The reason I auction celebrity items is it is a really good way of raising awareness.

"Not only can you use the name of that person, but also you can put a story behind the item, which creates a lot of awareness as well as raising money for the charity.

"I've sold some interesting stuff. I try to sell things that you can't necessarily buy and to go that extra mile to get some good stuff."

The latest batch of celebrity goodies went up for grabs on Sunday, with bids already reaching hundreds of pounds.

Mr Jones, a communications officer for a firm in the City, hopes the cash will help others beat the disease he overcame in 2010.

He began fundraising in January of that year - just two weeks after being diagnosed with cancer in December 2009 -

He said: "It was devastating to be diagnosed with bowel cancer when I was only 26 and I didn’t even realise that young people could be affected by the condition.

"The reason I am making such a stink is that people automatically associate bowel cancer with older people and I think it is very important to be aware that it  can happen to younger people too.

He added: "I keep doing what I am doing because unfortunately I have lost a lot of people to bowel cancer. I lost three friends in March.

"So whatever I do, I do with a very heavy heart, because I have lost a lot of friends along the way as well."

The auction will last until April 30. To view the items up for sale, click here.
