Councillor Ruth Dombey, leader of Sutton Council, said: "Last year the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics meant that community spirit was extremely high. One year on we’re keen to encourage that same spirit of neighbourhood friendliness.

"We have an extremely close-knit community here in Sutton and it was great fun last year to see people outside enjoying the good weather and each other’s company.

"However, we do need to know well in advance of people’s plans so we can help organise the road closures and make sure everyone is well catered for.

"If you are planning something I urge you to let us know as soon as possible."
